Electroplating Technology

Electroplating is a plating process in which metal ions in a solution are moved by an electric field to coat an electrode. The process uses electrical current to reduce cations of a desired material from a solution and coat a conductive object with a thin layer of the material, such as a metal. BPlas can plate onto platable ABS and ABS/PC blends.

Types of plating which can be achieved in BPlas Electroplating line;

  • Electroless Nickel,
  • Electroless Copper,
  • Acid Copper,
  • Bright Nickel,
  • Satin Nickel,
  • Micro-porous Nickel,
  • Micro-fissured Nickel,
  • Chrome Plating (Cr+3),
  • Chrome Plating (Cr+6),

 BPlas  performs the following in-house testing:

  • CASS testing for corrosion resistance evaluation per ASTM B-368
  • Wet thermal cycle testing for critical adhesion testing per CSA B-125
  • Dry thermal cycle testing for adhesion testing per ASTM B-553
  • Kocour plating thickness testing
  • Microscopic section analysis for plating and substrate material troubleshooting
